This week UK broadband is celebrating its 10th birthday, Britain’s first broadband customer Mark Bush, was NTL’s first customer for broadband testing back in March 2000 (NTL is now Virgin Media). 10 years ago most people were using 56K modem and accessing the Internet at blisteringly slow speed as was Mr Bush who got fed up with his £300 a month dial-up connection bill.
Now the majority of the country has broadband with the government pledging to make sure every home has super fast broadband by 2020, a far cry from the early days of the internet, where no one even expected mobile broadband to become popular.
