LG has announced that their new KP500 mobile phone will be the cheapest touchscreen device on the market when it’s released. The LG KP500 is basically a cut down version of the LG KC910 and is aimed at the midrange phone markets.
The LG KP500 sorts a 3 inch touchscreen display and uses the latest version of LG’s flash-based user interface. Navigating through the phone can be done using your fingers or the included stylus, which is nicely tucked away in the device.
The KP500 is a quad band device, but because it is aimed at the midrange market there is no 3G support. Other features include a 3 megapixel camera, accelerometer for switching the screen from portrait to landscape, Bluetooth, FM radio and a microSD card slot for expanding the memory.
It may not be to everyone’s liking, but the LG KP500 will surely turn some heads when it is released. The KP500 is expected to be out at the end of October and there is still no work on price, but with LG stating that this will be the cheapest touchscreen device, only time will tell.

HTC has released a successor to one of its first touch screen phones the HTC Touch. The new device, the HTC Touch 3G looks a lot like the previous device, but has subtle differences and sleeker appearance. The HTC Touch 3G has also had a bit of colour injected into it and is available in black, blue, brown and gold; colours will probably depend on the network you choose.
As with the rest of HTC’s touch series, the Touch 3G is powered by Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional, which is capable of displaying and sending emails, writing and editing Word documents and browsing the internet effortlessly.
The Touch 3G also features a 2.8 inch QVGA touchscreen, HSDPA and Wi-Fi connectivity, Bluetooth 2.0 and a 3.2 megapixel camera. Navigating through the phone is easy with HTC’s superb TouchFLO user interface and your images and files can be stored on a microSD card via the card slot.
A built in multimedia player is also onboard, but the downside is that there is no 3.5mm headphone socket. Instead there is a HTC ExtUSB connection that is used charging/synchronisation and listening to audio and video files.
The HTC Touch 3G is bound to be popular with people who want a functional and powerful Smartphone. The Touch 3G is expected to be out sometime this month, on a range of networks; price to be confirmed.
