HTC and Vodafone announce Google Android powered HTC Magic

Vodafone and HTC today announced that the newest Google Android powered smartphone, the HTC Magic will be available exclusively on Vodafone in Europe and will be available in the spring. The HTC Magic will initially be available for Vodafone customers in Spain, Germany, France and the UK, with other territories following shortly after.

This new smartphone, which will be HTC’s second Android powered device and the first to be offered by Vodafone (the HTC G1 was exclusive to T-mobile), will feature a similar sleek and compact design to the HTC G1, but ditches the slide out QWERTY keyboard in favour of a full touchscreen display.

Specifications are still thin on the ground, but the HTC Magic will feature a 3.2 inch QVGA touchscreen display, a trackball and navigation buttons for easy access to all of the applications. It will also feature popular Google applications such as Google Maps, Google Mail and Google Search as well as You Tube and Facebook accessibility.

Speaking about the announcement, Peter Chou, president of the HTC Corporation said: “We are proud of our partnership with Vodafone and excited about making the Android-powered HTC Magic available to Vodafone customers in Europe.”

A full specification and details of the HTC Magic, as well as availability and pricing will be available in the coming days.
