So what’s all the hype about?

Replacing the HTC Hero, the HTC Legend is a tablet style Android smartphone, HTC have made a number of improvements to what it can do and what it can offer as well as reworking the overall look and design of the phone. Launched at the same time as the HTC Desire the Legend is more compact than its predecessor but does come with the same 3.22 320×480 pixel display the Hero had, HTC have also replaced the old style trackball with an optical one with a clickable surround. They have rather stylised this handset, made out of a single piece of aluminium with plastic ‘bumper’ which makes it robust whilst keeping its looks.

This is an Android 2.1 handset, which also has the HTC added feature of the Sense UI that is on some of their other handsets. Looking at other Android phones available you can see that HTC are adding features available for those who enjoy social networking like their ‘Friend Stream’ which brings together updates from friends on Twitter, Facebook and other social networking sites all in one place. Supporting these features is a 600 MHz Qualcomm 7227 processor, internal memory of 384MB of RAM and a 3.5G device with maximum download speeds of up to 7.2Mps and uploads of up to 2Mbps. It also has Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity and a USB connection.

The HTC Legend has a 5 megapixel camera with autofocus, LED flash and geo-tagging support as well as the usual multimedia player FM radio and 3.5mm audio socket.
