HTC Tattoo – HTC’s low cost Android phone

HTC has unveiled their newest Android powered device set to bring the Android platform to a wider audience. The HTC Tattoo will be cheaper and more accessible than previous HTC Android handsets and is pretty similar to the HTC Touch 3G in terms of style and specification.

The HTC Tattoo is a quad-band phone so can be used all over the world and features a 2.8 inch touchscreen display, a 3.2 megapixel camera and both 3G and Wi-Fi connectivity for browsing the internet, sending emails and downloading those all important applications.

GPS navigation and a digital compass are also integrated, as well as a very powerful media player capable of playing most major formats including MP3, MPEG4 and Windows Media files. Another bonus for the HTC Tattoo is that it includes a 3.5mm headphone socket, which is a vast improvement over the miniUSB socket found on other HTC devices.

One of the more compact Android devices, the HTC Tattoo measures 106 x 55.2 x 14mm and weighs 113 grams, with a standby time of up to 520 hours and talk time of up to 5 hours 40 minutes.

The HTC Tattoo is due for release across Europe next month and is bound to bring the Android platform to many more people. No word on price or availability, but because it is very similar to the HTC Touch 3G device, expect it to be around the same price.
