Nokia X3 – simple multimedia phone

Last month Nokia announced two new ‘X Series’ phones the X3 and X6 to join its range. First up is the Nokia X3, which is aimed at the lower range of the market and is a GSM only device meaning that it doesn’t have 3G or Wi-Fi connectivity.

The Nokia X3 is a slider phone and features a 2.2 inch display, a 3.2 megapixel camera, microSD card slot and dedicated touch music keys.  The multimedia player supports various music and video files and the included 3.5mm headphone socket is a welcome addition.

A 2GB microSD card is included with the phone and can be expanded up to 16GB to hold all of your media files. The 3.2 megapixel camera features an enhanced fixed focus and LED flash for low light situations.

Measuring a compact 96 x 49 x 14mm and weighing just 103 grams, the Nokia X3 is small enough to fit into a pocket of small handbag without any trouble.

If you’re in the market for a GSM-only phone that is inexpensive and has a decent multimedia player then the Nokia X3 will tick all of your boxes, but with the emergence of mobile internet and Wi-Fi connectivity becoming a must have for new mobile phone buyers, it’s hard to see the X3 taking any sort of foothold in the market.

The Nokia X3 is due for release within the couple of months and will be available in black/red and blue/silver colour combinations. No word on price or availability, but sources say that the sim free version will cost €115 (around £100).
