Orange and Vodafone to sell iPhone’s in the UK

Orange and Vodafone have announced that they will be offering the iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS on their networks for the UK market. The two deals end O2’s exclusive UK agreement with Apple (who produce the iPhone), which has been in force since the first iPhone was released in 2007.

Vodafone has stated that users can register their interest online and that the handsets will become available in early 2010, while Orange says that its customers will be able to buy the phone later this year. Both companies have not specified a price or release date for the devices, but expect them to be similar to the ones offered by O2.

O2 will still continue to sell the iPhone devices, and has sold over a million handsets since its release in 2007. This has helped the company to improve its market share and win more customers from other networks. O2 will also offer iPhone’s rival the Palm Pre Smartphone after securing an exclusive deal which sees the device launch on the 16th October.
