Overview of the HTC Desire S

The Desire S, the latest HTC model, comes after both the Desire and the Desire HD.  This smartphone was released for sale at the beginning of 2011 in Britain.  It has taken the Desire, the most successful Android smartphone to date, and improved on all its aspects while retaining its basic design, which you will soon find out from this HTC Desire S review.

Getting online is now simple and straightforward, with fast access of around 14.4Mbps when there is a good 3G internet access.  There are two cameras included, with the highest spec camera having five megapixels and able to produce true HD Video at 720p.  It has a highly intuitive touch-screen interface with the latest HTC Sense, 2.1, on top of the latest Android platform, Gingerbread.  This allows for excellent online browsing, with the great touch zoom feature.  It also comes with all the expected features, such as a GPS, music player and radio.

However, against the growing trend for having dual-core processors, the HTC Desire S just has a single processor, though it is a powerful one GHz Qualcomm processor.  The basic memory is just 1.1GB and there is also 768MB of Ram that can be upgraded using a Micro SD card.  Battery life is significantly improved over the Desire, essential nowadays for high usage on the internet.  The sleek body, which is just 1.16cm, has a 3.7 inch screen measured diagonally.

The Desire S looks great and comes with some superb features.  The market for high-end smartphones is more crowded than when the original Desire came out, so the Desire S no longer can claim to be the best.  However, compared to some of its rivals it is more compact and costs less, so is worthwhile considering.  Due to demand for this phone there are some great HTC Desire S deals around at the moment.
