Samsung’s first Android powered phone the I7500

Samsung has announced its new I7500 Smartphone, the first Samsung device to be powered by the Android operating system. This powerhouse of a phone features Wi-Fi and HSDPA connections, as well as a 3.2 inch OLED captive touchscreen display.

The Samsung I7500 is quad-band and also features a 5 megapixel camera with LED flash and geo-tagging, along with GPS navigation. Internal memory is 8GB and a microSD card slot is included for expandable memory up to an extra 16GB.

The Samsung I7500 also has a fully fledged multimedia player capable of playing various music and video files and a 3.5mm headphone socket as standard. The device measures 115 x 56 x 11.9mm, which is slightly smaller than the iPhone.

The I7500 is due to be released sometime in June and will be a direct competitor for the T-Mobile G1 and HTC Magic; there is no word on network availability or price yet.
