Sony Ericsson has announced a new clamshell walkman phone, earmarked for a Q2 release date. The Sony Ericsson W508 looks very much like the W980 released last year, but has a few tweaks including 100MB internal memory, Memory Stick Micro card slot and changeable covers in green, orange, purple and graffiti styles.
The Sony Ericsson W508 is a quad band device and has HSDPA and 3G connectivity and sports a 2.2 inch TFT display with accelerometer and a 3.1 megapixel camera. Other features include FM radio and multimedia player and the memory can be upgraded to 16GB with a Memory Stick Micro card (1GB card included).
The W508 measures 93.5 x 50 x 14mm and weighs 98 grams, and includes both Bluetooth and USB connectivity. Battery time has been upgraded to up to 400 hours on standby and 10 hours of talk time.
Although the W508 looks very similar to the Sony Ericsson W980, the inclusion of expandable memory and the interchangeable covers may sway some people. The Sony Ericsson W508 is expected to be released sometime in Q2 of 2009.
