Teen sent over 14,000 texts in one month

Texting has always been popular here in the UK, but a teenager in California has taken it to the next level, by sending over 14,000 texts in a single month. Regina Hardesty, a 13 year old from Orange County California sent an astonishing 14,528 texts in December, which is an average of 470 messages a day; one every three minutes.

Regina’s father Greg had a shock when he opened the phone bill, which took up 440 pages on the online bill. He said:  “First I laughed. I thought ‘That’s insane, that’s impossible, I thought maybe AT&T had made some mistake on the bill.”

Regina, who was on school holidays told her parents, “it was winter break and I was bored”. Luckily enough, Regina’s parents had signed her up for unlimited texts for $30 a month or the bill could have been up to $3,000.

According to a recent study of mobile phone use for 13-17 year olds, the average monthly texts are 1,742, which is around 60 text messages a day.

  • I had to read this story twice just to make sure that i understood it correctly.

I still cant picture my self devoting 1 day too texting.
Also how do you keep track of what conversations you have going with people, and im sure that they would be rather angry with my constant texting.

  • I would struggle to send that many texts within any given day. I usually send around 100 texts a day and I think that’s a lot.
