Toshiba caused quite a stir at the Mobile World Congress last month by demoing there brand new Smartphone the TG01. Toshiba have made a monster of a phone, which is the first to boast a 1GHz CPU and a massive 4.1 inch touchscreen.
The screen benefits from Toshiba’s REGZA technology, which is taken straight from there TV’s and provides bright and vivid colours ideal for watching videos and playing games. The Toshiba TG01 has quad band GSM so it will work worldwide, as well as HSDPA, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity.
A 3.1 megapixel camera is mounted on the rear and a microSD card slots is also included to store your music and video files. A USB cable is included to transfer your files on to the device and both GPS and multimedia player are built-in.
The Toshiba TG01 is powered by Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional, but Toshiba has added its own user interface on top called Stripes, allowing you to navigate through the devices options.
Another eye-catching feature is that the Toshiba TG01 measures 129x70mm and is only 9.9mm thick, which is thinner than the iPhone; it also weighs less at 129 grams.
In an already cluttered touchscreen smartphone market it is unsure where the TG01 will sit in the market, but with its high end specs is sure to find a home with users who are tired of iPhone’s dominance.
The Toshiba TG01 is due to be released in Q2 of 2009; there is no word on price or network availability at the moment.
This looks like a true ipod killer
